From his deep desire and love of food, Master Lin Jun You sought to learn and master the art of traditional Cantonese delicacies. Leaving his home to undertake apprenticeships in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Master Lin sharpened his culinary skills and refined the recipes, incorporating the traditional styles with local taste before opening the first restaurant in 1996. As a testament to the superb quality and taste, four more You Kee restaurants opened over the next few years, with
outlets across Skudai and Johor Bahru.
With more than 30 years of experience under his belt, Master Lin aims to make mainstay traditional Cantonese delights accessible to all through is restaurants. With immaculate attention to detail, the food continues to delight generations after generations. The family run business keeps traditional cooking alive, with two huge urns standing outside each storefront. Inside the urns are the famous double boiled herbal soups, which simmer for over 15 hours each day. The restaurants also offer classic roasts such as Siew Yok (Roast Pork Belly), Char Siew (Barbequed Pork Loin) and even Roast Suckling Pig among other Cantonese and Suzhou delicacies.
The restaurant has garnered critical acclaim over the years, delighting people from all walks of life, from celebrities, socialites and foreign dignitaries. As a testament to the excellent quality of food preparation, You Kee has also won several awards over the years, the pièce de résistance as having been named as one of the top 10 restaurants in the World Top Gourmet Award in 2018. You Kee has continued to delight and tantalize the taste buds of their patrons over the years. The success of the brand has allowed it to expand locally and regionally, with upcoming restaurants planned for Malaysia and Singapore.
